Black Bull Refurbishment is Good News for Newcastle

Newcastle-upon-Tyne pub the Black Bull will undergoes a refurbishment over the next week that will introduce the Flaming Grill brand to the town of Benton, creating five new jobs in the process.

The pub on Front Street in Benton will be part of the BBQ inspired Flaming Grill brand from Spirit Pub Company when it launches 6pm Thursday 20th February. Following the refurbishment, which will be undertaken while the pub is open, the pub will offer an exciting new BBQ menu, where dishes are cooked on a chargrill and served on hot sizzling skillets, to add a touch of theatre.

The pub will serve traditional pub food with steaks and grills alongside its famous flaming challenges; 32oz Steak Challenge and epic 1kg Flaming Challenge Burger, which features two flame-grilled 12oz beef burgers and two breaded chicken breast fillets, topped with spicy chilli beef, crispy bacon, onion rings and cheese slices. All served with a giant double portion of chips.

David Gibson, general manager of the Black Bull, said: “I am so excited to be introducing the Flaming Grill brand to the people of Benton; our menu has some truly fantastic dishes that are innovative and exciting, and sit alongside our traditional pub classics to ensure there is something for everyone.

“The investment will refresh the look and offer but at the heart of the pub it will remain a local; still showing sports and with a dedicated bar area for those that just want to relax with a drink or two.”

The pub is still looking for new recruits to join the team; anyone who’s interested in a position at the Black Bull should contact the pub on 0191 2662 103.

Flaming Grill is part of Spirit Pub Company which owns and operates 800 managed pubs across the UK. Other brands in its portfolio include Chef & Brewer, Fayre & Square and Taylor Walker.
