FLAMING GRILL PICKS A WINNER
A local foodie is celebrating after her dream burger was picked from hundreds of entries to feature on the menu at pubs across the UK – just in time to cheer on England during the summer’s football.
Caroline Stafford, from Fareham, created the Euros Finest burger as part of pub restaurant chain Flaming Grill’s competition to create their first ever crowd-sourced burger - chosen by guests for guests.
Her burger fought off competition from almost 800 entries to take one of five finalist positions, and then took the top spot when the burgers were put to a Facebook vote to decide which burger should win. As well as seeing her culinary creation being tucked into at almost 100 Flaming Grill pubs across the UK, Caroline has also scooped £500 in cash.
The winning burger, dedicated to the England national football team, features a tasty combination of beef burger, chicken burger, bacon, mozzarella, crispy onion rings, pepperoni, mayo and BBQ sauce in a ciabatta, and will be available in pubs from 10th June as part of the Flaming Grill Summer Burger Festival.
Diana Stephens, general manager at Cocked Hat, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that the Euros Finest has been created by one of our guests. Caroline’s creation clearly connected with the Facebook fans and we’re positive our guests are going to absolutely love it – we can’t wait to try it out too!”
Caroline said: “I was shocked to be taken through to the finals of the competition; I was up against some great entries and I’m over the moon to be named the winner.
“I often find it hard to choose whether to have a chicken or beef burger when I go to my local pub and since Flaming Grill gave me the opportunity to design my own I thought, why not combine the two?”
“I’ll be extremely proud when I see my burger on the menu, and I’m sure it will taste just as delicious as it sounds!”
Guests keen to try Caroline’s creation can from Tuesday 10th June, the beginning of Flaming Grill’s Summer Burger Festival.
